Coming from a home where kindness and honesty are in short supply,
it's no surprise that Christie O'Kelly gravitates toward her uncle's new
wife, who shows her an abundance of both. Included in the package-
deal is a new cousin. Todd becomes Christie’s friend and then her first
love. The next few years pass in a haze of happiness for Christie. Then
one day, she gets the news in a letter. Todd is married—to someone
else.
Eight years later, he is standing on her doorstep. The first words out of

relentlessly, determined to earn back her trust. Then, when all finally
seems to be coming right in her world, her uncle dies suddenly.

her to suspect that his “natural” death may have been murder. With her
usual determination, she plows ahead in search of the truth, even
